“Present Laughter” kicks off centenary celebrations
at The Green Room Theatre, Wilmslow
The Green Room marks a century of theatre magic and mirth next month with their season opener Present Laughter by Noel Coward kicking off the company’s centenary celebrations. The play is a brilliant farce satirising fame, love and showbusiness and runs from Monday 14th to Saturday 19th October 2024. To book tickets, visit The Green Room Theatre.
The Green Room opened its doors on 30th October 1924, the same year Coward achieved his first great commercial success with The Vortex. Present Laughter, is considered one of Coward’s finest works, a sparkling comedy, offering the audience a delightful glimpse into the life of Garry Essendine, a successful and self-absorbed actor who is grappling with the highs and lows of his personal and professional life. With its witty dialogue, complex characters, and sharp insights into the world of theatre, and the play continues to captivate audiences almost 85 years after its debut.

The Green Rooms centenary celebrations include a Gala performance before an invited audience of Present Laughter, a Centenary Dinner Dance, at The Alderley Edge Hotel, and a season of productions that offers something for everyone to enjoy:
