About The Green Room Theatre Wilmslow
History
Founded in 1924, the Wilmslow Green Room Society is one of the oldest Amateur Dramatic Societies in the UK. In the beginning, we were “strolling players” performing wherever a venue could be found.
In 1989, after a superb fund raising effort, a Victorian cottage and an old shirt factory were converted into a modern theatre. After 65 years, the society had its own home.
Archives
There is a full archive on this website of almost all our productions since our formation in 1924. The archive lists all plays and cast and crew where these are known. If you have any programmes or photos of past performances which are not covered, we would love to hear from you. Who played which role in a play 30 years ago? Look it up in our archive.
Facilities
The Green Room theatre has seating capacity for up to 102 and provides access and facilities for wheelchair users.
Our programme of productions is chosen to provide a varied and challenging season of plays, using innovative and adventurous stage designs, and is well supported by local people.
Refreshments of tea, coffee and ice cream are available during the interval, or, if you prefer, you can buy drinks from the bar, which is open until 11pm each evening during, and after, productions.
On Saturday mornings, when the box office is open, the coffee bar is open to the public from 11am – 12 noon. Here you will get a warm welcome from members and have an opportunity to look around our premises.
An active social committee organises a full programme of events throughout the season, and our publicity committee keep you up to date with all details of these and forthcoming events.
