Agatha Christie’s radio drama ‘Murder in the Studio’ opens at The Green Room Theatre
‘Murder in the Studio’ by Agatha Christie, is set in a 1950’s radio studio where the audience are invited to watch the live recordings of three Agatha Christie Radio Plays – ‘Butter in a Lordly Dish’, where barrister Sir Luke Enderby takes a trip to the country. ‘Yellow Iris’, sees Hercule Poirot revisit a cold-blooded killer, who escaped justice; and ‘Personal Call’, involves a mysterious phone call, seemingly from beyond the grave!
The production runs at the Wilmslow theatre from Monday 22nd to Saturday 27th January 2024. Evening performances start at 7:45pm and there’s a 2:30pm matinee performance on Saturday 27th January. To book your tickets go to: Murder in the Studio.
Director John Chidgey comments, ”The setting of a radio studio complete with the live production of sound effects is another unique experience for our audience to enjoy this season following on from our first ever musical ‘Ordinary Days’ back in December. Two teams of actors – 33 performers in total – will take to the airways suitably named TEAM AGATHA, who will perform on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and the Saturday matinee, leaving TEAM CHRISTIE to perform on the evenings of Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. You might like to come twice and decide which team you liked the best!”
The play takes the audience back in time to the golden age of radio, where in true BBC style, the cast, under the watchful eye of the Studio Manager, will be elegantly attired in evening dress and will not only play a multitude of characters, but also do most of the sound effects, from a country railway station to a cabaret in the Jardin des Cygnes restaurant.
