All aboard for an evening of comedy as The Titfield Thunderbolt arrives at the Green Room Theatre, Wilmslow
The Titfield Thunderbolt by Philip Goulding is based on the original Ealing comedy of the same name and concerns a group of villagers trying to keep their branch line operating after British Railways decided to close it. Their efforts provide a rollocking evening of hilarious comedy nostalgia! The play runs from 12th to 17th May 2025 at The Green Room Theatre. To book tickets, visit The Green Room website.
The branch line between Mallingford and Titfield is losing money and British Rail is intent on closing it down. In desperation the villagers exploit the 1947 Transport Act and decide to take charge and run it themselves – with a train resurrected from a local museum! As well as convincing the railway authorities that they are competent to work the line, they also have to face the formidable Vernon Crump who is set on providing a competitive bus service!
Director Sonia Dykstra adds: “The play is a perfect way to round off our Centenary season, as its been a wonderful journey full of fun, friends and nostalgia. The cast and production team have worked really hard to bring this great British story to the stage and I hope that our audiences will be ‘All aboard!’ with us for a 7.45pm departure during the run.”
